Cotonou, Benin. In 2012 the AKI program started at the Centre Hospitalo-Universitaire-HKM de Cotonou (CTA/CNHU-HKM) under the leadership of Dr. Francis Layla.

Bamenda, Cameroon: Mbingo Baptist Hospital (MBH) is supported by the North American Baptist Conference and managed by Dr. Dennis Palmer. MBH decided to make their own dialysis fluid for the peritoneal dialysis treatment. Nephrologists from the US rotate on a regular basis in support of the program.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: SKCF has been working with Dr. Yewodwossen Tadesse at the Black Lion Hospital for several years and in 2015 the first patients were treated after supplies arrived from Germany.

Port-au-Prince, Haiti: SKCF is currently working with Dr. Judith Exantus, pediatric nephrologist from the Hospital of the State University of Haiti (HUEH) in procuring supplies for the program. The plan is to share these supplies with the University Hospital in Mirebalais, supported by Partners in Health.

Lagos, Nigeria: Dr. Christopher Esezobor, pediatric nephrologist from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) received supplies from SKCF in 2016.

Kampala, Uganda. The Kisenyi Health Center, which houses the kidney treatment clinic, opened in 2014 and is managed by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

Phnom Penh, Cambodia: Program started in 2014 after supplies were delivered from Thailand and Dr. Sovann Kanitha completed his training.

Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo: HEAL Africa runs the hospital where Dr. Luc Malermo started the AKI treatment program, after supplies were delivered from Germany via truck from Rwanda.

Abidjan, Ivory Coast: Dr. Laurence Adonis-Koffy, a pediatric nephrologist approached SKCF during a meeting in Accra, Ghana for assistance in procuring supplies for peritoneal dialysis treatment. These were successfully delivered and the supply chain was established to continue the treatment program.

Mwanza, Tanzania: PD supplies were delivered to Bugando Medical Center in 2014, the site of the treatment program.

Moshi, Tanzania: This was SKCF’s first program, started in 2009 at the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center (KCMC), now managed by Dr. Kajiru Kilonzo, nephrologist trained in Cape Town, South Africa. The 5 station hemodialysis clinic was built in 2016.
